meditation, yoga and art

Altered States Workshops are designed to help you turn off your oh-so-controlling Left Brain, and engage your creative Right Brain. In learning to shift your perspective to Right Brain thinking you can learn to see the world differently, get in touch with your creative side and find deep relaxation.

Yoga and drawing go hand in hand in this process of learning to develop Right Brain thinking. For many of us, our Left Brain rules our day to day lives by keeping us logical, on time and in control of our worlds, while our Right Brains, which do much of our creative, emotional and sentient reflection, get pushed aside and ignored.

Artist and yogi, Sarah Ammons, MFA, has developed a series of exercises in drawing and yoga, that helps you discover how to create this shift in yourself. Many artists have talked about being in an altered state of consciousness while they work, where time seems to fall away and the mind becomes free to wander often leading to profound realizations and self discovery. Drawing exercises aim to help you achieve this shift in consciousness, while paired with yoga sequences that help you fell strong and more open in your body. The combination of the two, will take you to new levels of creativity, self-awareness and relaxation, which may be just the break you need from what may have become a technology-dominated, logic-driven life.

Join us for a yoga and drawing workshop and reacquaint yourself with your creative side.
